As the Head of Marketing at Intelligence Assist, I am always on the lookout for tools that can streamline marketing tasks like creating ad campaigns. At Intelligence Assist, we specialise in helping small businesses adopt AI technologies and tools. I typically use Canva for editing graphic designs, but I recently decided to try out AdCreative.ai to see how it compares. Here is my honest take on each tool.
What does AdCreative.ai do?
AdCreative.ai claims to excel at leveraging AI to generate high-performing, platform-optimised ad creatives and copy efficiently. They position themselves as a tool that can quickly produce conversion-focused ad designs tailored for different advertising platforms using Artificial Intelligence.
However, they acknowledge some limitations in customisation options compared to more versatile but manual design tools like Canva. AdCreative AI’s designs may also come across as repetitive at times. Additionally, their pricing is generally higher than Canva’s subscription plans.
In My Own Words
From my experience using both tools, AdCreative.ai does live up to its claims of rapidly generating a high volume of ad creative concepts through its AI capabilities. The platform integration and optimisation for platforms like Facebook, Google, etc. is quite impressive.
However, the designs do tend to have a similar look and feel after a while due to the AI’s learning patterns. Customising and making significant alterations to the AI-generated designs is quite limited within AdCreative.ai compared to Canva’s flexible editing tools.
While AdCreative.ai is great for quickly ideating and creating initial ad concepts at scale, Canva provides more artistic freedom to refine and polish the creatives further with its rich customisation options.
The choice between the two really depends on the business’s priorities – if speed and volume of ad creative output is key, AdCreative.ai could be valuable. But if extensive customisation is required, Canva may be the better option despite being more manual. The higher pricing of AdCreative.ai is something to consider as well.

CONS
Limited font options and inability to upload custom fonts
Some issues with image quality, like pixelated logos, that require fixing in another tool
Fewer features for granular customisation compared to Canva’s extensive editing capabilities
Some users have reported issues with customer support and unexpected charges
May generate similar or repetitive creatives that lack originality or diversity
Higher pricing compared to Canva, which offers a free plan.
Steep learning curve for users accustomed to traditional graphic design tools
May not capture the unique brand voice and style as effectively as human designers
When I tried out AdCreative.ai, one of the standout features was the wide selection of personalised ad templates to choose from. This makes it very quick and easy to find a layout and design that fits your brand and campaign goals. The AI-powered platform automatically generates ad creatives tailored to your specific audience.
AdCreative.ai also offers some unique capabilities powered by Artificial Intelligence:
It can analyse your competitors’ top-performing ads across different platforms to provide insights and inspiration.
The AI can generate compelling ad copy and headlines to grab attention.
It provides AI-driven recommendations to optimise your ad designs and improve conversion rates.
Areas for Improvement
On the flip side, new users might find there’s a learning curve to master the platform, particularly when editing the template. Due to the live analysis of other companies, it may produce repetitive designs as these ads are typically designed based on trends.
Like many businesses, Intelligence Assist has a custom font. Adcreative.ai has responded to us and said the ability to upload fonts is coming soon – but missed out on when ‘soon’ is. What is soon to a salesman?!
We also found then when we uploaded the logo, it became pixelated, but trusty Canva has a tool that can fix that! It also has a higher cost compared to Canva’s more versatile but manual design tools. The choice between the two depends on the specific needs and priorities of the business running ad campaigns.
So, while AdCreative.ai excels at efficiently generating conversion-focused ad creatives, it falls a bit short of flexibility for making refined adjustments. I found myself needing to make some final tweaks in Canva.
Additionally, users may face difficulties with video editing due to lag and in my experience, the final export did not match the original preview, leading to the loss of credits and additional expense.
The Verdict
So, in terms of the core function of creating ads that engage and convert, AdCreative.ai is a powerful tool for quickly producing ad campaigns fuelled by AI insights. It’s a huge time-saver and the AI-generated suggestions can give your ads a real performance boost. However, it doesn’t fully replace the need for a tool like Canva, which provides more control over customising the finer details to perfection. The ideal workflow might be using AdCreative.ai to build the core ad designs and copy, then importing it into Canva for any necessary polishing.
I’m excited to see how AdCreative.ai evolves its feature set for an even more robust ad creation experience. But even in its current state, I believe it offers unique value that makes it a worthwhile addition to the toolkit of any small business looking to up their ad game. The current market seems primed for an alternative solution that offers greater flexibility and a more user-friendly experience. Adcreative.ai stands at a crossroads where it must evolve to either enhance its platform’s capabilities or potentially yield ground to competitors ready to innovate in this space.
